MoTPH - Kinshasa City Extension Project
The Minister of Town Planning and Housing (MoTPH) announced plans to build a city called Kinshasa City Extension Project at Kitoko, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The city will be erected 40 km east of Kinshasa, just 15 km from N'djili International Airport, between the Congo River and the Nsele River, south of Maluku.
The Kinshasa City Extension Project will be built on 30,000ha of land. Out of which 20,000ha area will be implemented under the first phase for US$4 billion.
The remaining 10,000ha will used for agriculture development.
The US$10,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a government city
2. Construction of sewage treatment plants
3. Construction of office buildings
4. Construction of labor accommodation complex
5. Construction of hospitals
6. Construction of a control building
7. Construction of commercial complex
8. Construction of a town hall
9. Construction of a convention center
10. Construction of a courthouse
11. Construction of new headquarters for Gécamines (which will consist of twin towers)
12. Construction of roads and related infrastructural works
13. Construction of stormwater drainage network
14. Construction utility networks
15. Construction of agro-food technopoles (10,000 ha)
16. Construction of associated facilities
