Saudi Aramco - Master Gas System Expansion (MGSE): Phase III
Saudi Arabia is planning to undertake the construction of phase 3 of the Master Gas System Expansion project in Saudi Arabia.
The Master Gas System (MGS) is operated by Aramco and is one of the worldâs largest hydrocarbon networks. Construction started on the scheme in the mid-1970s as a means to transfer gas across the kingdom to support industrialization. The system became fully operational in 1982 and allows Aramco to market all of its gas domestically.
The project has been Divided into 17 packages.
The US$7765 million project includes the following:
* Phase 1 includes Construction of booster gas compression stations (BGCS) 1, 3 and 5, compressor drivers, gas filler and separators, metering and control system, storage facility, Installation of eight compression trains (Three compression trains are to be installed in BGCS-1, two trains in BGCS-3, and three trains in BGCS-5), safety and security systems, lightning facilities, associated facilities and Expansion of permanent accommodation facilities in east-west pump stations (EWPS) 1 and 5.
* Phase 2 includes Construction of new booster gas compression station â BGCS-10 â near EWPS-10, compressor drivers, gas filler and separators, metering and control system, storage facility, Installation of Ten new compression trains in BGCS-10, safety and security systems, lightning facilities, other associated facilities and Expansion of permanent accommodation facilities in EWPS-10.
* Phase 3 includes Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-1 to Shedgum (56km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 4 includes: Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-1 to EWPS-3 (300km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 5 includes: Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-3 to EWPS-4 (166km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 6 includes: Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-4 to EWPS-6 (370km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 7 includes: Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-6 to EWPS-8 (340km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 8 includes: Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-8 to EWPS-10 (480km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 9 includes: Laying of 56-inch EWJZG-1 from BGCS-10 to sector I STS 2 (458km) , Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 10 includes: Laying of 56-inch EWJZG-1 from sector I STS 2 to sector II STS 1 (310km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 11 includes : Laying of 56-inch EWJZG-1 from sector II STS 1 to Shoqaiq (462km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 12 includes:16-inch, 12-inch and 4-inch (166km), lateral pipelines in Eastern Province and Qassim region clusters, compressor drivers, gas filler and separators, metering and control system, storage facility, access and maintenance infrastructure and installation of safety and security systems, lightning facilities and construction of other associated facilities.
* Phase 13 includes: Laying of 16-inch, 12-inch, 10-inch and 4-inch (470km) lateral pipelines in Riyadh cluster, compressor drivers, gas filler and separators, metering and control system, storage facility, access and maintenance infrastructure and installation of safety and security systems, lightning facilities and construction of other associated facilities.
* Phase 14 includes: Laying of 56-inch, 16-inch and 10-inch lateral pipelines in Shoaiba cluster (212km), compressor drivers, gas filler and separators, a metering and control system, a storage facility, access and maintenance infrastructure, and other associated facilities and the installation of safety and security systems and lightning facilities.
* Phase 15 includes: Laying of 20-inch, 16-inch, 12-inch and 4-inch lateral pipelines from Yanbu to Rabigh (192km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities
* Phase 16 includes: Laying of a 52km-pipeline, Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
* Phase 17 includes: Laying of 56-inch east-west gas pipelines 3 and 4 from EWPS-1 to EWPS-3 (169km), Installation of Compressors, Valves, Pigging equipment, Measurement and monitoring equipment, Cathodic protection systems, Metering and regulating stations, Launchers and receivers and Construction of Associate facilities.
