Ministry of Energy, Ghana - Petroleum Hub Development
The Ministry of Energy, Ghana (MoE) is panning to undertake the construction of a petroleum hub on 8,093ha of land at Beyin, Jomoro Municipality, Ghana.
The project will establish a sustainable means of refining local crude, and it will create the environment for synergies between public and private to flourish, and unify all three spheres of the petroleum industry like upstream, midstream and downstream.
The project is estimated to create about 780,000 jobs. It is one of governmentâs strategic anchor initiatives to serve as a new pillar of growth in the economy, and it would further accelerate the growth of Ghanaâs petroleum downstream sub-sector to make it a major player in the economy and ensure development of sustainable value, wealth creation and progress of the industry.
The entire project consists of three refineries, five petrochemical plants, storage facilities, jetties, related port infrastructure across an overall area of 20,000 acre (8093 ha.) The project is planned to be implemented in three phases: the phase 1, the phase 2, and the phase 3.
The US$60,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of three refineries each with a capacity of 150,000BP
2. Construction of two oil jetties
3. Construction of petrochemical plants (5 nos.)
4. Construction of power plants
5. Construction of light industry
6. Construction of waste and water treatment facilities
7. Construction of storage tanks for crude oil
8. Construction of business and residential centers
