ENOWA - NEOM City: Renewable Energy Programme 55,000MW
ENOWA, Energy and Water Subsidiary of NEOM is undertaking the construction of a renewable energy system at NEOM City in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
The project aims to deliver up to 55 gigawatts of installed renewable generation capacity mainly solar photovoltaic and wind along with energy transmission, storage, and green-fuel production to power NEOM city entirely by clean energy. Key components include wind farms, large-scale solar farms, grid infrastructure (including high-voltage transmission lines and smart grid systems), battery and possibly pumped hydro storage, and green hydrogen/ammonia facilities. The intended purpose is to meet NEOMâs massive energy demand, facilitate zero-carbon or net-zero operations in industry, transport, water desalination, and urban areas, while enabling exports of green fuels.
This project is a part of the Neom's renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) project.
The US$55,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a solar and wind power plant 3,000MW
2. Construction of a substation
3. Construction of solar panel bases
4. Installation of solar panels
5. Installation of transformers
6. Installation of control systems
7. Installation of a solar tracking system
8. Installation of solar panels
9. Installation of a generator
10. Laying of transmission line
11. Construction of associated facilities
