ADNOC - Aviation Fuel Tank Farm
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) is planning to undertake the construction of an aviation fuel tank farm in the UAE.
The project's objective is to build underground tank farms at two sites in the vicinity of Abu Dhabi International Airport which will have a total capacity to store 192 million liters of jet A1 fuel.
Each tank farm will have a gross storage capacity of 96 million tonnes, with a pumping-out capacity of 5 million litres an hour.
The US$400 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of 16 underground storage tanks, measuring 30m in diameter and 8.8m in height, surrounded by a secondary concrete dyke offset by 3m from the tank shell
2. Construction of 22 delivery pumps, each with a capacity of 240,000 liters per hour
3. Construction of two delivery pumps, each with a capacity of 150,000 per hour
4. Construction of two metering skids at the discharge header before connecting to the existing hydrant header at two different locations
5. Construction of a closed drain system consisting of closed drain vessels, closed drain transfer pumps, product recovery tanks, product recovery tank transfer pumps, filter water separators, and sampling pumps
6. Construction of an open drain system consisting of open drain vessels, open drain transfer pumps, and oily water separator packages
7. Construction of a substation building including switchgear, and transformers
8. Installation of an air/instrument air system and potable/utility water systems
9. Installation of a vent pipe
10. Installation of a fire and gas detection and alarm system
11. Installation of a process control system
12. Installation of a safety instrumented system
13. Installation of an emergency shutdown system
14. Installation of a fire protection system, including a foam storage system, and a spray system
