Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) is undertaking the South Kuwait Excavation, Transportation, and Remediation Project SKETR-2 works in South Kuwait, Kuwait.

Tender No. RFP-2076069

The current profile includes Zone B.

The US$200 million project included the following:

1. Expansion of an existing landfill facility for hydrocarbon-contaminated soil

2. Remediation & excavation works of all wet oil lakes (WOL), dry oil lakes (DOLs) and oil contaminated piles (OCPs), coastal deposits, wellhead pits, coastal trench, tartrate

3. Backfilling works

4. Development of treatment platform areas and facilities

5. Enabling works

a. Installation of fencing

b. Site offices/facilities

c. Establishment of water supply, storage, treatment, and power

d. Preparation of treatment areas

e. Lay-down areas

f. Material stockpiles/holding areas

g. Provision of new roads and gatch roads

6. Main works

a. Excavation of oil-contaminated soil

b. Mixing of the contaminated soil from piles and dry oil lakes with the liquid sludge in wet oil lakes to allow easier handling of wet oil lake contents

c. Soil treatment using bioremediation

d. Sampling and analysis to monitor treatment progress

e. Staging and disposal of other excavated materials

f. Recovery and handling of liquids from excavation
