MUPHR, Congo - Kinshasa City Extension Project
The Minister of Town Planning and Housing (MoTPH) is undertaking the Kinshasa City Extension Project at Kitoko, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The city will be erected 40 km east of Kinshasa, just 15 km from N'djili International Airport, between the Congo River and the Nsele River, south of Maluku.The Kinshasa City Extension Project will be built on 30,000ha of land. Out of which 20,000ha area will be implemented under the first phase for US$4 billion.
The remaining 10,000ha will be used for agricultural development.
The US$4,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a city extension covering ~430 km², with first phase of 75 km²
2. Construction of 1,200 industrial units/factories in specialized parks
3. Construction of infrastructure: roads, utilities, sanitation, power, water systems
4. Building of social and healthcare facilities, including the hospital platform âInfirmière Maman Marthe Kasaluâ
5. Land preparation: site clearing, earthworks, site levelling, environmental impact assessments
6. Housing development for workers and associated residential zones
7. Construction of industrial parks specialised by sector (textiles, food processing, forest products, plastics, automotive, etc.)
