Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC) is undertaking the construction of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant project in Mesaieed, Al Wakrah, Qatar.

The US$287 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of electrolysis unit

2. Construction of chlorination unit

3. Construction of EDC purification unit

4. Construction of additional warehouses

5. Construction of allied utilities

6. Construction of stripping unit

7. Construction of storage tank

8. Installation of drier

9. Installation of silos

10. Installation of centrifuge

11. Installation of a polymerization reactor

12. Installation of EDC cracker

13. Installation of related machinery

China Chengda Engineering Co. has been appointed as the main contractor and the construction works are expected to be completed by mid-2025.

25 March 2022

The main contract is expected to be awarded in June 2022.

The main contract bids are under evaluation and is expected to be awarded by the first quarter of 2022

The following companies have submitted the commercial bids for the project: Samsung Engineering, Consolidated Contractors Company, Hyundai E&C, Tecnicas Reunidas, CTCI Corporation, and Wison Engineering.

QVC has extended the commercial bid submission till the end of August 2021.
