Qatargas is planning the development of phase 2 of the North Field LNG expansion project by increasing the capacity from 110MTPA to 126MTPA in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar.

It is also known as North Field South (NFS) Project.

The US$10,000 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of two LNG trains

2. Construction of an LNG storage tank

3. Construction of a helium recovery unit

4. Construction of a non-technical building

5. Construction of off plot facilities

6. Construction of five wellhead platforms

7. Laying of pipelines

8. Installation of jackets

The following companies have submitted the main contract bids for the Five Wellhead Platforms project: Hyundai Heavy Industries, McDermott, Saipem, Sapura, Subsea7, and Technip Energies. The main contract is expected to be awarded by the end of October 2021.

The main contract tender has been issued with a bid submission deadline of September 15, 2021 on Five Wellhead Platforms. The following companies are preparing to submit the bids for the project: Hyundai Heavy Industries, McDermott, Saipem, Sapura, Subsea7, and Technip Energies.

There is no news regarding the main contract tender issue yet for the Five Wellhead Platforms project.

The FEED works have been completed on Five Wellhead Platforms.

07 January 2021

McDermott has been awarded a FEED contract for the five wellheads package.

05 June 2020

Engineering and construction works are expected to commence after the completion of the 4th LNG train project. Currently, the project is in the initial stage.
