Saudi Aramco and Total (SATORP) are planning to develop a chemical plant named as Amiral complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

The US$11,000 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of Ethylene plant (1.65 MTPA)

2. Construction of Propylene plant (50,000 TPA)

3. Construction of Acrylonitrile plant with the capacity of 425,000tpa

4. Construction of Linear Alpha Olefin (LAO) plant with the capacity of 400,000tpa

5. Construction of Poly Alpha Olefin (PAO) plant

6. Construction of Logistic Area

7. Construction of Utility Flare and Interconnection

8. Construction of Tank Farm

9. Laying of Pipelines and value park integration

10. Satorp integration

11. Construction of storage facilities

12. Construction of associated facilities

The main contract bids on the packages: Tank Farm: Package 5A, Utility Flare and Interconnection: Package 4, High-Density Polyethylene and Logistic Area: Package 3, Site Preparation Works (Package 8), Temporary Construction Facilities (Package 7), Pipelines: Package 5B, Derivatives Unit: Package 2, Mixed Feed Cracker: Package 1 are still under evaluation and are expected to be awarded by March 2023.

The construction is expected to be commenced in 2023 and is is set to start operations in 2027.

The client has taken the final investment decision for the construction of the complex. The investment is around US$11 billion out of which US$4 billion will be funded through equity by Aramco (62.5%) and TotalEnergies (37.5%).

The main contract tender is issued on project. The bids are expected to be submitted by August 15, 2022. Hyundai E&C, Saipem, Mc Dermott, Técnicas Reunidas, Sinopec, CPECC, CTCI, L&T, Samsung, JGC and Technip have prequalified companies on the project.
