The Egyptian and Cyprus Governments have embarked on an ambitious plan to build a Natural Gas Pipeline connecting the Aphrodite Gas Field in Cyprus with the facilities onshore Egypt.

The proposed pipeline can either stretch across 400 km directly connecting Aphrodite to the onshore facilities in Egypt or instead take a shorter route (90 km) and connect the newly discovered Zohr field from where the combined gas could be transported using a single pipeline to onshore Egypt. A decision on the route of the pipeline is yet to be taken.

The US$3000 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of pipeline (90km / 400km depending on the route selected)

2. Construction of pumping Station

3. Installation of valves

4. Construction of associated civil work

5. Construction of storage tanks

6. Construction of related facilities
