Qatargas - North Field LNG Expansion
Qatargas is undertaking the expansion of the North Field LNG expansion project in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar.
Phase 1 of the North Field LNG expansion project will increase Qatarâs liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity from 77 million tons per annum (Mtpa) to 110 Mtpa. Phase 2 of the North Field LNG expansion project will further increase LNG production capacity from 110 Mtpa to 126 Mtpa.
The US$43,000 million project includes the following:
Phase 1 - North Field East Development (NFE) previously known as "North Field Expansion":
A. LNG Processing Trains (EPC-1)
1. Construction of four mega LNG trains
2. Construction of utilities & offsite facilities which are located within Lot W2/3 & W1A
3. Construction of a helium recovery unit located at Lot W1A
4. Construction of the non-technical building
a. Construction of warehouses located at Lot W1A
b. Construction of workshops located at Lot W1A
5. Construction of administration building at existing Barzan admin area to save the plot space
6. Construction of associated facilities

Debottlenecking of LNG Trains : QP has signed an agreement with Chiyoda Corporation to conduct detailed study on the project which is expected to be completed by end 2017. FEED is expected to start in early 2018 if the outcome of the study will achieve the optimum value for the country.
