Department of Culture & Tourism, Abu Dhabi (DCTA) is undertaking the construction of the Guggenheim Museum project in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.

In a bid to serve the world as a destination for the advancement of knowledge and the understanding of culture through arts, New York-based Guggenheim Foundation plans to establish a world-class museum (30,000m2) devoted to modern and contemporary art called the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. The museum will be the only Guggenheim museum in the region.

The US$1,250 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a museum

a. Construction of 13,000m2 of gallery space

b. Construction of 18,000m2 of exhibition space

c. Construction of a conservation laboratory

d. Construction of a 350-seat theater

e. Construction of a library

f. Construction of a research center

g. Construction of food and beverage outlets

2. Construction of retail centers

3. Construction of parking facilities

4. Development of landscaping

5. Installation of elevators and safety systems
