Top GCC Retail Projects Market
The GCC retail construction sector remained active in 2024, supported by ongoing development across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. According to the latest MEED Projects data, more than 40 retail contracts worth $1.2 billion were awarded across the region. Although the total value declined from 2023, this consistent level of activity highlights the sector’s ability to sustain momentum amid changing market conditions.
GCC Historical Retail Contracts:

Saudi Arabia led all GCC markets, accounting for 50% of total retail contract value, followed closely by the UAE with 45%. Together, these two countries made up nearly 95% of total project awards, reinforcing their dominance in regional retail development. Since 2014, the UAE has contributed 44% of all GCC retail contract awards, with Saudi Arabia at 32%, underlining their continued leadership in shaping the region’s retail infrastructure landscape.
