Sonatrach is planning to undertake the expansion of Skikda Refinery in Algeria.

The US$5000 million project includes the following:

Package 1:

1. Construction of Hydrocracking Unit

2. Construction of Hydrocracking Unit (4.5miilion tonnes/ year)

3. Construction of Associated facilities

Package 2:

1. Construction of Naphtha Reforming Unit and Associated facilities

Package 3:

1. Construction of 24,100 BPD Deasphalting units

2. Construction of Penex isomerization

3. Construction of CCR Platforming

The Hydrocracker project is being relaunched and around 10 EPC contractors have prequalified. This includes contractors from China, South Korea and Europe.
