General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is undertaking King Abdulaziz International Airport Expansion Project at the existing King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The US$7200 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a passenger terminal

2. Construction of Hajj terminal

3. Construction of a runway

4. Construction of 700m road tunnel

5. Construction of light rail system

6. Construction of two North and South terminals

7. Construction of renovation of the existing terminal

8. Construction of 25 contact gates

9. Construction of Automated People Mover (APM)

10. Construction of 130m control tower

11. Construction of access roads

12. Construction of load centers and utility networks

13. Construction of 22,000 car parking area

14. Construction of associated facilities

15. Installation of 2,736 surveillance cameras

In order to cater to the growing population of the people in Saudi Arabia, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is constructing an airport in Jeddah known as "King Abdulaziz International Airport". The development will be carried out in three phases with the phase I expected to complete in 2012 with the second and third phases scheduled for completion in 2035. The first phase of the airport expansion involves the overhaul and construction of 2 passenger terminals (north and south), hajj terminal, and revamping of new terminal along with other facilities.
